The medals by Geo Verbanck

In 1910 the Ghent-born sculptor Geo Verbanck crafted his first art medal. Over a period of fifty years he created more than thirty-five medals. Some of them are real art deco gems.
During the Great War he designed Ghent emergency coins and in 1937 he was also asked to send in drafts for a series of Belgian coins.

What art medals and coins are we talking about? What is the historical background of these small works of art that cover half a century? This book tries to give an answer to these questions.

The revised catalogue of the medals, written by Anthony Demey, and integrally translated in English, has been issued in 2018. (€18, to be ordered here ).
